Ingredients for meat (less tofu):

  • 1 pack of AFC Medium Tofu (Choose from 3 different sizes: 14oz. Organic, 19oz. & 14oz.) cut into 2in. x 3.5in. cubes
  • 5 oz. ground meat • 3 fl. oz. water
  • 2 dried mushrooms (soaked in water chopped finely)
  • 1 stalk string onion, chopped
  • 2 slice ginger, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper powder
  • 1 teaspoon light soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 oz. corn starch
  • 1 stalk chopped spring onion
Ingredients for sauce:
  • 1.5 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1.5 tablespoon light soy sauce
  • 3 fl. oz. water
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 tablespoon sugar


  1. Combine all the ingredients for the meat in a bowl and stir until the mixture is well-blended.
  2. Likewise, combine and stir together all the ingredients for the sauce in a small bowl. Set aside.
  3. Using a spoon to hollow out the center of each tofu rectangle to make a little box.
  4. Pat the tofu 'boxes' dry and dust them lightly with cornstarch. Fill each with about 1 tablespoon of the stuffing.
  5. Pour enough oil into a skillet to fill 3 inches. Heat oil over medium-high heat to 300F.
  6. Deep-fry the stuffed tofu, a few pieces at a time, until the tofu is golden brown and the filling is cooked through.
  7. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. Heat a skillet over high heat until hot. Add 1 tablespoon of the reserved oil and swirl to coat the sides.
  9. Add green onions and stir-fry until fragrant. Add the sauce and bring to a simmer.
  10. Slip the fried tofu into the sauce and stir gently to coat. Transfer the tofu onto a serving platter.
  11. Ready to serve.
