The AFC Konnyaku items are made from the powder konjac plant and imparts a chewy bouncy texture that takes on the flavoring of the dish. Konnyaku items are fat free and generally used in simmered soup or as a pasta substitute. There are four different types of Konnyaku: Tofu, Slices, Strips, and Noodles. All are slightly thicker than Shirataki, even though they are made from the same ingredients. In other words, the Konnyaku noodle would feel more substantial in your mouth than Shirataki noodles. It is completely soy free and has been enjoyed in Asia for years before it made its mark in the American culture.
